SMC was set up in 1999 as a specialist firm of commercial agents and Chartered Surveyors, and operates principally in the South Yorkshire, Derbyshire and North Nottinghamshire areas. Ours is a well-established and well-known specialist commercial property agency, originally the commercial department of Saxton Mee. The firm has grown steadily to become a major part of the Sheffield and South Yorkshire commercial market, and became fully independent in 2008.

In 2012, SMC acquired Hale Saunders Chartered Surveyors and the team has now expanded to include Martin Saunders BSc FRICS as a consultant. He brings his considerable experience and expertise to our team. Martin set up Hale Saunders in 1995 and has built up a successful and well-known practice over the last 16 years with a good and loyal client base.

SMC deals with a diverse range of commercial property instructions across a wide variety of types of property, including:

  • Office space
  • Industrial and warehousing space
  • Retail premises
  • Restaurants
  • Educational property
  • Local authority property

As well as dealing with commercial property, SMC also undertakes the valuation and survey of residential properties (including building surveys and Homesurvey reports).

The firm provides advice and expertise to developers and investors on major schemes and is deeply embedded in the property market within South Yorkshire, north Nottinghamshire and north Derbyshire.

SMC provides advice to clients such as The University of Sheffield with regard to valuations, rent reviews, acquisitions and disposals. In addition, the company is fully retained by The Sheffield College with regard to its general practice surveying requirements. Currently, SMC is dealing with the disposal of sites for The Sheffield College. Other major clients include Sheffield City Council, Barclays Bank, Handelsbanken, Sheffield Mutual Friendly Society and Sheffield International Venues.
